So Nice We're Traveling Together

Well this has been a fun weekend!  In addition to planning our summer garden and ordering our seeds (above) we have also had the pleasure of hearing from so many of you.   Your interest, your support and your suggestions for this project have been uplifting and affirming.  (And there are some damn eagle-eyed copy editors among you as well!)Among the many, many gems, Dina's Grandma Dorsey of "Pharmacy School" fame gave us a bit of follow-up we just had to share.  It's representative of the larger response in such a charming, all-capital-letters way:

DINA AND ERIK,I AM HONORED TO HAVE A CHICKEN NAMED AFTER ME (DOROTHY CHICKEN),ESPECIALLY SINCE I LOVE CHICKENS SO MUCH. TO EAT THEM, THAT IS.WHAT YOU NEED NOW IS "POLITICAL SAVVY" TO ACCOMPLISH THIS.I CANNOT SWIM, PLAY A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT, PLAY TENNIS, GOLF ORCARDS, BE A GARDNER, A FARMER, OR A PHYSICIAN.I CAN SELL MOST ANYTHING , BUT NOT THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE.HOWEVER, SEND ME ON A MISSION TO HELP YOU ACCOMPLISH WHAT YOU NEED---- I WILL PERSEVEREYOU CERTAINLY HAVE THE TALENT, AMBITION, AND DESIRE.GO FOR IT!LOVE ALWAYS,GRANDMA DORSEY

Another sacred spirit and possibly the source of all things warm and fuzzy in the world, Lynne, left us with this nugget:

WOWEE! I am so excited for you...!  Watch out...I may leave all these Yankees and go rogue and join you just to get to till the soil for those scrumptious beets and carrots and to coax the Dorothys into yielding those fine eggs. What a huge adventure this will be! Dina, you are certainly the perfect partner for this ploughman and you are both the biggest stars in our world!

Ploughman.  I LOVE that!  I'm going to have to figure out how to use that. And finally, in closing a recent email exchange, Ben, the founder of the Farm School said:

"It is so great we're all traveling together now."

Amen to that.  It is a perfect little dose of sentiment to describe how happy we are that you're along for this journey with us.Thanks Lynne, Thanks Dorsey, Thanks Ben. Thanks All!PS - Pico Iyer, who is currently at the top of the "We Love This" inspiration page will be speaking this Friday at the Harvard Book Store. He'll be reading from his book, The Man Within My Head.  The event is free and open to the public.  I haven't read the book but hope to be there, just to let him know he's partially to blame/credit for this perhaps crazy but certainly life-altering idea.
